        Employer Information/Establishing A New Employer Account

    DEW it Better OnlineOur Employer Accounts Interactive Voice Response (IVR) System provides info on general liability requirements and helps you set up a new employer account. To access "Specific Account Information," you need your DEW Employer Account Number and PIN.

    With Specific Account Information you can

    • File a No Employment Report for the most recently completed calendar quarter
    • Request 940 Certifications
    • Get Contribution Tax Rate information for the most recently completed calendar quarter

     

        Your Account

    To use the Employer Accounts IVR System, toll-free 1.866.831.1726, you need a touch-tone or dial-pulse telephone. You can call the system from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily. Have your DEW account number and Personal Identification Number ready. Your PIN can be any number you choose. Use any "4" digit number except "0000" or "9999." Our voice response system will ask you to enter your employer account number. Next enter your "4" digit PIN. You’ll use your PIN each time you call the voice response system. Forget your PIN, and you can’t access the system. Contact the UI Tax Department for assistance.

     

        940 Certification Requests

    Call 1.866.831.1726 to request 940 Certification. Use your PIN to make this transaction. The system will let you enter the tax year using a 4-digit number. We’ll mail the document to your address as indicated in the Employer Accounts System. The Employer Accounts System only permits one 940 Certification request per day. Need additional 940 Certifications? Call back the following day.

     

        Contribution Tax Rate Inquiry

    Call 1.866.831.1726 to inquire on your contribution tax rate for the most recently completed calendar quarter. If you need other contribution tax rate quarters, call the UI Tax Department. Use your Personal Identification Number to make this transaction.

    Apply for Bonding Today
    Want to apply? Contact your nearest DEW Workforce Center’s bonding coordinator and request Fidelity Bonding. Bond coverage of up to $5,000 self-terminates in six months and takes effect right after the applicant's first day of work. For longer bonding, purchase bonds through the contracted insurance company.

        Employer Services

    We daily offer services to help resolve manpower problems. We provide technical assistance to employers staffing new plants and businesses.

     

        Workforce Business Services

    A right-to-work and employment-at-will state, South Carolina has one of the nation’s lowest work stoppage rates and labor costs. We sharpen businesses’ competitive edge through funding opportunities and services. Your business can:

    • Get a grant for incumbent worker training to launch a new product or technology
    • Receive 50 to 75% of customized training’s cost
    • Receive 50 to 75% of the cost of wages during on-the-job training
    • Receive WorkKeys® skills assessments and job profiling
    • Get employees job search and placement, skills assessment and training services when downsizing

    For funding availability and priorities, contact your local Workforce Investment Board administrator.

     

        Incumbent Worker Training

    We provide training funds for employees needing new skills due to new technology, restructuring, new product lines, and other factors. (Employer match required.) Funding that significantly upgrades employee skills/wages, helps avert layoffs, and improves retention opportunities receives priority.

     

        On-The-Job Training

    Funding exists for 50 to 75 percent of wages (depending on business size) of referred new hires trained on-site as compensation for supervision and training’s high costs. Reimbursement duration depends on occupation, training content, and the new hire’s prior work experience.

     

        Customized Training

    Funding exists for 50 to 75 percent (depending on business size) of training’s costs needed to meet an employer or group of employers’ special requirements.

     

        Rapid Response

    Get 24-hour, on-site assistance to help laid-off workers get jobs, get training, and income support if eligible. Note: We provide Rapid Response services regardless of the layoff or closure’s cause.
